Budget List

It is necessary to calculate budget of my shoot beforehand. A budget is a financial plan that outlines expected income and expenses over a specific period. It helps in allocating resources efficiently. Several reasons why budgeting is important. Firstly it will help me with financial planning. With a clear idea of my  budget I can plan to shoot it accordingly. Secondly it will help me to know what props, backgrounds and location is available and what things do I need for my shoot. Last but not the least by budgeting it will help me to avoid unnecessary expenses which is often a cause for overspending.

Equipment List

Equipment just like budget is very important as it is needed for the photoshoot because it directly impacts the quality of the image. Photography is a type of art which requires technical and specialized equipments which includes cameras, lenses, lighting and various accessories. Each piece of it has a significant impact on the output like sharpness, contrast and depth.

The equipment I am using:

  • Camera - Iphone 14 Promax (Rs 395,000)
I am using the Iphone 14 pro max for my shoot. Iphone's camera quality has advanced image processing which enhances details, colors and could be set accordingly. It also has feature like smart HDR which helps in improving the texture and dynamic range. This means that photographers who do not know how to take pictures and do not want to buy DSLR camera without knowledge so they can use this and practice it tells that it is not important to buy a DSLR camera only for to take professional pictures, the Iphone can be used as well. It is a simple yet powerful camera app with easy to use settings. It also has multiple lenses like wide, ultra-wide which offers flexibility for different shots. Much editing is not needed after taking the picture with Iphone as its quality is enhanced already. It also has portrait mode which enhance the depth and subject separation.

Here is the tutorial on how to use the camera and take pictures professionally :

Mockups

So I have been tasked to construct mockups which can also be referred to as layouts for my cover page, content page and double spread. The importance of creating mockups before designing a magazine is readiness. This will help me to construct a before hand ideas and concepts into a tangible form by providing with the representation of magazine structure including the things which also need to be added in it like page numbers, headings, typography and images. Here are my mockups!

Contact Sheet

After conducting my shoots, now I have been asked to narrow down my images that I will be using it. To do this I have made a contact sheet in which all the selected pictures are put together. Selecting the right pictures for my magazine are crucial as they should be the best ones and a professional to convey some message.

 Here it is:

Magazine Shoot

I shot all my pictures in one day.

Here are some behind the pictures:

As you can see this is the room which I have used for taking all my pictures in the natural light. I started doing my shoot around 9:00 am in the morning and got done with all the pictures by  evening around 2:00 pm. It was a very tiring day but I really enjoyed taking pictures of my subjects as I like photography and then changing the background chart paper colors to see which one suits the better was the most interesting part. One problem that I encountered was that as I was shooting in natural light so the changes in weather, time of day and shadows really affected my pictures quality so for that I had to be really careful and check again and again to ensure that there are no shadows and the light is also perfect.
