The word magazine comes from "makhazin" which is an arabic word meaning storehouse. The first magazine which was published between 1663 and 1668 by German theologian Johann Rist was Erbauliche Monaths - Unterredungen. It was started from early printed pamphlets, broadsides, chapbooks and almanacs. They are the form of media through which information is distributed. This can be aim to inspire, inform, educate and entertain audiences.

Branding Ideas and Mission Statement
Establishing a distinct brand identity is essential for the effective marketing of a magazine. A key aspect for this process it to create a mission statement which is strong and defines the main purpose of a publication. A mission statement gives your content team a direction as to who, what, and why of their work. When it is shared publicly it communicates with potential readers for what your content is about.  Codes and Conventions of Food Magazines

In this task I explored the codes and conventions of food magazine and how these create meaning for audiences.

Layout
Mostly the food magazines have an item of food
as their main image which they usually feature
in the magazine so that it is appealing to the
magazines target audience.

Mast Head
The masthead typically features bold, stylized
typography with the vibrant colors or textures which
reflect the theme of food. It is used to grab the audience
attention and is usually related to the food.

Issue Date
The issue date in food/cooking magazines indicates
the publication's release month and year, which is
often placed near the masthead so that readers can know
how recent it is

 Barcode
The barcode in a food magazine is usually on the
front of the magazine, close to the boarder. It often
also has price with next to it, to give readers help
in knowing the magazine's quality and its target
demographic.

Buzzwords
Buzzwords in food magazines are issued on the front such as "free", "exclusive", "plus" are attention grabbing terms which are used to create a sense of value. These words often highlight the special offers, advanced content according to the targeted audience so that they can engage.

Coverlines
In the magazines they are used to highlight the main stories and features what is inside. They are designed to grab attention and entice readers so that they communicate with magazine content to look at the glance of it.

2nd Page
In most food magazines, the second page is often reserved for advertisements, which are primarily related to food or kitchen products. These may include supermarkets, meat products, cookware, beverages, cutlery, canned goods, jams, oils, and home furnishings.

Colors:
If we look at the colors of the magazines so they are standing out in each picture either is too loud and background very light to create a contrast and the main subject is shown clearly and has the power. Mostly plain color backgrounds are used.

Target Audience
To get an idea of the target audience of my magazine. I looked at the popular magazines with a similar theme. After looking at the "Forbes", "Entrepreneur", "Foreign Affairs", "Fortune", "Success". I noticed a similar audience in them.
Most of the readers were between the ages 25 and 60 with the mindset of innovation, leadership, investors, politics.
To confirm by target audience's interests, I made a questionnaire form, analyze my results and then later compared them with my research above.

Here is the link to the survey I conducted:

Results!

Here is the summary of the 18 responses I received:

Analysis

According to these results, people above 18 and willing to spend $10-$50 on a monthly food magazine. This budget indicates that they are financially stable and able to buy and make use of expensive magazine like "The Dessert Diaries". Because most of them do look at the content page before buying it it shows that they are interested the first time they open up a magazine. Mostly people also opted for monthly subscription, again showing their interest and also for the recipes they both which tells that they are interested to try new food items.

Thus because of these results now my magazine target audience shall be:
Individuals between the age of 18 or above
Individuals with an interest in food coupons
Financially stable individuals
